Harrisburg Catholic Elementary has been approved for the Community Eligibility Provision for all HCE students. This means that HCE students qualify for free breakfast and lunch each school day. There is no charge to HCE families. We encourage students to take full advantage of this program. Help your child start the day on a positive note by enjoying a healthy breakfast, then a balanced lunch. Additional cartons of milk cost 25 cents.

Students may report to their homerooms between 8:00 a.m. and 8:15 a.m., at which time Morning Prayer will begin. Please note for the HF Campus students, those who are car riders may be dropped off in front of the building after 8:00 a.m.; however, at dismissal time, car riders must be picked up in the school yard behind the building. Cars should NOT be parked in front of the school or church waiting to pick up children as this will interfere with bus transportation. (See additional notes below.) At the Holy Family Campus, Kindergarten and 1st Grade students will have lunch at 11:30 a.m; 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Grade students will have lunch at 12:00 noon. All Holy Family Campus students will be dismissed at 3:05 p.m.
Absenteeism and Lateness If a child is absent, a parent/guardian must call the school by 8:30 a.m. to inform the appropriate office staff that the child will not be in school that day. If the absence is not reported by 8:30, school staff will attempt to contact parents/guardians or the emergency contact. Upon his/her return to school, the student must have a note signed by a parent stating the date(s) and reason for the child's absence. If a student is absent 3 or more consecutive days, a doctor's note is required for the child to return to school. If a student is expecting to be out of school for more than a week, a parent or guardian must contact the principal. Any student who arrives after the start of school is considered late and therefore, must be signed in by a parent/guardian and given a late pass to enter their homeroom. Parents are NOT permitted to simply drop their child at the school entrance if the child is late.
Dismissal Cathedral Campus -- Car riders will be dismissed from the front door. Parents should remain in their cars until the teacher on duty calls for your child. When waiting in your car, please pull forward so students can be called more easily. Bus riders will be dismissed from the back door of the school and will be escorted by the teacher on duty to the busses waiting to pick up on North Street. Holy Family Campus -- Families picking up children in cars should line up in 2 lines at the rear entrance of the school. Students will be dismissed by the teachers on duty who will assist in getting children safely to the waiting vehicles. When safe, teachers will wave on those cars and the next set will approach. Cars are not permitted to enter the outgoing driveway, even if busses are in your way to enter correctly. Your child's safety is our first priority; they are safely housed at the rear of the building and will remain there until you can safely arrive. Children walking home from the HF Campus must wait for the teacher to assist them when crossing 25th or Berryhill Streets. Students should not cross Berryhill at Hale Street as there is no one to guide them safely. Parents are asked to NOT pick up walkers as it will disrupt the flow of traffic and cause a safety hazard.
